CISI has performed a substantial amount of research and testing on materials ranging form 100 to 160 ksi tensile strength.  The terminology in using such metal, reduces welding time, weight, and, most important, cost.

CISI currently holds USGG, ABS, and DnV approved welding procedures using this 160 ksi metal.  Many required structures in the Marine environment are designed heavy.  From now on that's the past.

With the evolution of steel mills, new stronger steel products became available.

After long and extensive testing, the classification authorities became convinced, and finally the moment is here.
