Due to safety aspects helidecks are a necessary piece of equipment in the Marine Industry.  For stability and payload reasons a helideck, in combination with it's location, is always too heavy.  Therefore expensive alternatives like aluminum helidecks are commonly used all over.

Negative aspects of using aluminum are:

• The resulting requirement that in case of helicopter crash and resulting fire the extinguish time if limited because aluminum is very sensitive to fire with regards to loosing strength and melting
• Because of connection aluminum/steel electrolyte have to be minimized by the aid of insulation type of connections.

The best solution would be a lightweight steel helideck structure.

Our design of helideck has the same weight properties as an aluminum helideck.

Besides other weight saving concepts, we have designed a new concept of helideck make out of Ultra High Tensile Steel and optimized the geometry of stiffeners and plating such that weight and price wise, our design will beat the aluminum competition.
